An Analysis of the Industrial Allegory and Semantic Structure of the ‘Demon Motif’ in KPop Demon Hunters

초록

Interpreting the ‘devil motif’ in KPop Demon Hunters unveils the systemic frictions within the K-Pop industry. Beyond mere horror, this motif serves as a signifier of capitalist desire and the commodification of the body. While the visual mise-en-scène reflects internal anxieties, the ‘Saja Boys’ performances illustrate a predatory logic between idols and fandom. Furthermore, the ‘Hon-mun’ and character tropes examine hyper-competitiveness and the instrumentalization of artists. Notably, the concluding ‘COMEBACK’ message implies a structural cycle from which subjects can rarely escape. Ultimately, by reflecting on contradictions obscured by spectacle, this analysis positions the work as a significant social text generating critical discourse on contemporary media.
