초록
The advancement of generative AI technologies demands transformation in designers’ roles and problem-solving approaches. The traditional Double Diamond model, grounded in human-centered design, lacks clear guidelines for AI integration, causing confusion in design education. This study develops a human–AI collaborative model by integrating AI technologies into the Double Diamond process and proposes concrete implementation methods for design education. The research scope is limited to graphic design processes within visual communication. Prior research was analyzed to identify the necessity and current practices of AI adoption. Four conversational AIs (ChatGPT, Ryutten, CLOVA X, Gemini) and four image-based AIs (Midjourney, DALL-E, Canva, Firefly) were selected, classified by functional characteristics, and evaluated for stage-specific applicability. Based on this analysis, three collaboration types—HITL (Human-inthe- Loop), AITL (AI-in-the-Loop), and HOTL (Humanon- the-Loop)—were mapped to the four-stage Double Diamond structure, and collaboration matrices and ethical guidelines were developed for each stage. The reinterpreted model specifies the Discover stage as HITL (six-step collaboration process), Define as AITL (six-step human-led process), Develop as HITL (ten-step collaboration process), and Deliver as HOTL (eight-step AI-led process). A ten-item ethical guideline addresses potential issues throughout the collaboration process. This study reframes the design process for human–AI collaboration, providing actionable methodology and ethical frameworks for design education, while highlighting the need for future empirical validation in educational practice.
