1950년대 전반기 잡지에 나타난 문화 담론과 세계 인식 - '문화세계'를 중심으로

This study focuses on literature during the war and the early 1950s, examining cultural discourse and global discussions, particularly in the magazine ,Mun-Hwa-Se-Kye(The Cultural World) which was published from 1953 to 1954. Mun-Hwa-Se-Kye(The Cultural World) addressed various cultural fields such as literature, movies, and art, and aimed to reflect the cultural needs and modern sensibilities of the wartime period. The war era played an important role in preparing and producing literary discourse in the 1950s, emphasizing global and modern discussions raised after liberation, and was a crucial time for expressing desires and anxieties about modernity. Mun-Hwa-Se-Kye(The Cultural World) established cultural discourse that communicated the reality of foreign culture and served as a reservoir for modernity, contributing to the reconstruction of the nation after the war. The magazine's intention to "contribute to culture" was not rooted in political participation based on Americanism or anti-communist ideology, which were mainstream at the time. Instead, the "culture" they aimed for was one that imagined and realized the future of their culture with "cultural people" centered around writers and journalists. Unlike other literature-oriented magazines, Mun-Hwa-Se-Kye(The Cultural World) became a preservation center for modern world culture, including movies, theater, philosophy, literature, art, and music, partly due to its cultural tendencies and globalist identity. This study is significant in ensuring the continuity of literary history in the 1950s and in exploring the origins of globalism, a discourse representing the postwar era, from the perspective of contemporary cultural figures.
