A Study on Broadcast Professionals’and Researchers’ Perceptions of Lifting the Ban on Japanese Broadcast Programs

초록

The Korean Government phased in the open-door policy toward Japanese broadcast programs in 2000 and 2004, since implementing the open-door policy toward Japanese pop culture in 1998. With the changes of environment of the international trade in broadcast programs in the context offree trade, the various aspects of the open-door policy toward Japanese broadcast programs need to be thoroughly examined. Therefore, the present study attempted an empirical analysis of broadcast professionals’and researchers’perceptions of the open-door policy toward Japanese broadcast programs. The research focused on the relationship between perception of, and evaluation of the adequacy and impacts of the policy. The factor analysis on perceptions of the open-door policy toward Japanese pop culture identified five common factors which can be classified into“ concern about negative impact,”“expecting a positive influence,”and“ indifference to the impact.”
