A Study on the Interface Design of a Stress Management App Based on Persuasive Design Theory

초록

With rising stress, stress-management apps have become essential tools for self-regulation and digital intervention, yet their interaction must better guide users and sustain long-term engagement. Grounded in behavior design and persuasive design, this study followed a systematic process comprising target behavior analysis, strategy ideation, prototyping, and evaluation. A comparative analysis of three representative apps identified persuasive pathways: data-driven identification, habit-formation support, and emotion-relief support. Using the Fogg Behavior Model, we profiled user types and core needs, from which we derived core strategies: sustained-motivation mechanisms, simplified action paths, and gentle trigger cues. A prototype implementing an anthropomorphic companion, diversified stress-relief spaces, and an emotion-journey guide was developed. Empirical evaluation demonstrated usability and persuasive effectiveness, validating the strategies. Theoretically, the study extends FBM to interactive contexts of digital mental health; practically, it provides a pathway for shifting stress-management apps from function-centric to behavior-intervention-centric design and offers actionable guidance for implementation.
