Study on Structural and Magnetic Properties of Cobalt Substituted Permalloy Amorphous Nanocrystalline Ribbons

This study investigates the structural and magnetic evolution of Co-substituted Fe-Ni amorphous-nanocrystalline ribbons. Co addition significantly enhanced thermal stability and saturation magnetization (Ms) by promoting the formation of the B2 Fe50Co50 ordered phase. However, this was accompanied by an increase in coercivity (Hc), attributed to local tetragonal distortions and Bain strain during the FCC to BCC phase transition. The findings suggest that while Co substitution effectively improves high temperature stability and Ms, precise compositional control is critical to mitigating the structural distortions that degrade soft magnetic properties.
