소액전자지급과 관련된 금융산업과 정보통신산업의 협력과 갈등

초록

This paper analyses the cooperation and conflict related with electronic payment between financial and information technology(IT) companies. The latter tries to provide electronic payment service by cooperating with financial companies based on advanced information technology. The former, however, tries to provide the service indepen- dently from IT companies based on the comparative advantage in customer interface. This paper investigates the cooperation and conflict in the case of tele-banking, the computer and online trading system of stock brokers, Electronic Bill Presentment and Payment, PC and Internet banking, and mobile banking in the history of Korean electronic finance. The main contribution of this paper is to find out the pattern of the cooperation and conflict, and to theoretically explain their dynamics using the concept of cooperation and system cost. The result implies that the cooperation between two kinds of companies is necessary to successfully provide electronic payment services.
