This study reinterprets Baesan-Imsu through the lens of environmental control principles rather than symbolic geomantic discourse. Focusingon solar heating, radiative cooling, and terrain-induced wind circulation, it explains how landform functions as a microclimatic circulationstructure that regulates environmental conditions within settlements. During the daytime, topographic shielding and slope-induced airflowmitigate heat stagnation, while front water bodies moderate thermal accumulation through evaporative cooling. At night, reduced windexposure and water-mediated thermal buffering alleviate rapid radiative cooling and cold-air drainage. Unlike contemporary urban-climaticstrategies—such as wind corridors or radiative cooling mitigation—that optimize discrete environmental variables, the proposed frameworkconceptualizes site selection as an integrated environmental control structure. It coordinates topographic shielding, water-mediated thermalmoderation, diurnal energy cycles, and seasonal wind regimes within a unified spatial logic. The study further translates these processes intoevaluative criteria—including wind-buffering potential, thermal moderation capacity, solar-access balance, and internal air-circulation structure—thereby redefining Baesan-Imsu as a dynamic locational system. This perspective demonstrates its theoretical coherence and applicability withincontemporary architectural and urban environmental research.
