Development of Bedding Designs Reflecting the 2025-2026 Heimtextil Trends

초록

In recent years, home textiles have evolved beyond mere household necessities to become crucial elements mediating health, sleep quality, and emotional well-being. After the COVID-19 pandemic, the growing importance of the residential environment has positioned bedding as a key design category that must fulfill not only hygienic and functional needs but also psychological comfort and emotional care. The global market is evolving around sustainability, functional integration, and personalized services. The Heimtextil fair, in turn, presents innovative directions that lead these developments. However, current bedding design still faces several limitations, including delayed trend adoption, the separation of functionality and aesthetics, and a tendency toward superficial sustainability. This study aims to propose creative and original bedding designs through an in-depth analysis of the 2025-2026 Heimtextil trends. It seeks to provide systematic data and new insights for both industry professionals and designers, thereby contributing to a smart, eco-friendly, and diversified industrial evolution. The study focuses on three trends presented at the 2025-2026 Heimtextil Fair in Frankfurt, Germany: the Imperfection of Nature, Radical Reorientation, and Regenerative Design. These trends are applied and analyzed through domestic and international bedding design cases. Based on these themes, designs are developed for three target groups: middle-aged consumers, newlywed couples, and children. The research method involves a systematic review of various literature sources, including academic papers, research reports, professional books, and official websites. Bedding design cases aligned with the three Heimtextil themes are analyzed in depth. Adobe Illustrator and Photoshop are then used to visualize bedding design proposals suitable for each target group. The results are as follows. First, the “Serene Comfort” design for middle-aged consumers highlights natural materials and handcrafted textures, expressing the imperfect beauty of nature. Geometric patterns and muted tones create a stable atmosphere, while regenerated nettle fiber and appropriate bedding dimensions suit the needs of this age group. This design successfully integrates the aesthetics and sustainability of natural materials into the lifestyle of mature consumers. Second, the “Everlasting Bliss” design for newlywed couplesintegrates traditional and modern sensibilities through abstract patterns and Pantone-inspired color combinations, conveying both artistic experimentation and a sense of coziness. Cotton fabric is used to ensure comfort and practicality, and the set is produced in large king-size bedding and pillow dimensions.A single repeating pattern strengthens visual unity, resulting in an innovative bedding proposal for modern couples. Third, the “Dreamy Play” design for children incorporates eco-friendly materials and lively patterns, reflecting both environmental values and playful energy of children. The practicality of linen fabric and consistent pattern repetition enhance cohesion, while safe and comfortable dimensions fit modern children’s lifestyles. This design serves as a good example of sustainable children’s product design that harmonizes ecofriendliness and functionality. In conclusion, this study provides systematic references and fresh insights for both designers and the bedding industry through an analysis of the 2025-2026 Heimtextil trends. It aims to contribute to the sustainable, smart, and diversified development of the textile sector, serving as a practical guide for future innovation in design that meets environmental and social demands.
