<붉은 돼지>, 거부와 유희의 이율배반

This article aims at evaluating the characteristic of storytelling structure and its result with text analysis in < Crimson Pig >. Miyazaki Hayao said this work is the moratorium movie that has nothing to do with new one. This means he has pursued new one with animation, and this work has the characteristic of moratorium created under the condition that keeps him from pursuing new one. But this confusing process becomes the important clue that helps understand his walk of animation. And paradoxically speaking, the confusion is also the key element consisting of this work`s identity. A pig has ambiguous meaning in this animation. It means middle age getting older and suppressing all desires, but at the same time it expresses desire to escape from nation, race, family and love. The former reflects middle age`s self-consciousness getting older powerlessly, and the latter expresses hatred about the world of meaningless death and excitement forced by moral duty and wars. Therefore two worlds` antinomy is focused in this article. It is between the world he wants to escape from, becoming a pig, casting a spell on himself, and the world he wants to go after escaping. In the process of reinforcing antinomic refusal and enjoyment, the objects refused and enjoyed are reversed. And it is noticeable that it finishes in confusing state. It shows enlightenment on problem, facing with confusing state, not just breaking confusion naturally. I point out that he can`t break the confusion with his methodology, to be wary of the world just by escape, which has its limits as romantic view of the world and reinforces the proper function of animation.
