초록
The purpose of this study is to identify the perception of judging in dancesport, which are highly subjective in its judging system, and to derive policy implications on how to develop dancesport. For this, 304 athletes, their parents and coaches involved in dancesport who attended the World Youth and the 9th KPDC National Dance Sports Championships were surveyed on the judging system. As a result of the perception survey, it is founded that in the categories of ‘satisfaction’, ‘professionalism’, ‘fairness’, and ‘consistency’ of judging, the level of ‘normal’ is all the highest, but the sum of negative perceptions was somewhat higher than the sum of positive perceptions. According to the survey on the recommendation or experience of corruption, more than half of respondents experienced it, and more than half of them received point lessons unrelated to improving their skills and performances. Policy implications in terms of conclusion are as follows: First, clear scoring standards for dancesport competitions are needed. Second, a judge qualification system should be reformed. Third, a standing judge system shall be introduced to secure the independence and expertise of dancesport’s judges Fourth, training and education for the cultivation of the personality and ethicality of judges should be carried out continuously. Lastly, dancesport should be a sport that everyone can trust through the establishment of fairer and more transparent judging standards and system.
