This study introduces a development process of a simulation framework to analyze the driving range for battery electric vehicles (BEVs) under different thermal conditions, utilizing real-world test data for validation. The framework assesses BEVs' range and energy efficiency at ambient and cold temperatures by incorporating battery parameters, motor efficiency maps, and estimates of heating power. The results closely align with real-world test results, with simulation errors within acceptable limits for over 90% of vehicles at ambient temperatures and over 80% at cold temperatures. This accuracy supports the Korean certification organization in efficiently reviewing and screening BEVs for the market. © 2024 IEEE.
