고령자집단과 청장년 집단 간 스마트폰 커뮤니케이션 기능사용의 지각된 용이성 차이

초록

Because unprecedented fast pace of population aging does not allow set-up time to the change, population aging is considered burden but living longer as victory of medical technology is worthy celebrating. To take benefits of longevity, we need to make enabling environment for older people to allow their active social participation. Mean while, as digital technology has aggressively diffused into our everyday environment and thus is popular, it needs to discuss prudently the matter of increasing use of digital devices and service by older people. Therefore, this study aims at identifying differences of perceived ease-of-use between young adults and the elderly when they use communication functions of smart phones in aspects of level of mental and body functions and then drawing non-exclusion measure to improve ease-of-use of older people. To figure out the degrees of mental and body functions required to text message and call, 75 participants(42 young people and 33 older people) were asked to answer to survey questions right after completing communication-related tasks. The survey results show that the group of older people generally have greater difficulties than the group of young people. interesting points are as follows; the differences between the two groups are greatest when they use functions needing cognitive capacities and when both have use experience of smart phones, the differences are observed at only auditory functions as instant stimuli. The disparity of perceived ease-of-use between the groups tells us that non-exclusion development is necessary to include older citizens and because use experience is helpful to reduce overall task difficulties except sound related function, auditory feed back should be reinforced. The findings can be applicable to develop technologies and devices for some minorities like the elderly excluded from using information technology.
