초록

This study aimed to explore how occupational, social, and personal factors influence burnout among young adults, and as well as how these factors are connected. A questionnaire on workplace experience was administered on 300 young adults in South Korea. The results indicated that negative job demands expectancy was positively associated with burnout-cynicism, burnout-exhaustion, and social media addiction, but negatively associated with burnout-reduced professional efficacy. Conversely, positive job resources expectancy disconfirmation was negatively related to burnout-cynicism, and burnout-exhaustion. General belief in a just world positively influenced social media addiction, while personal belief in a just world was positively associated both with the presence of meaning and the search for meaning. Family support was not significantly related to any other factors. Social support, however, negatively influenced burnout-cynicism, burnout-reduced professional efficacy and burnout-exhaustion, while positively influencing the search for meaning. The presence of meaning and the search for meaning demonstrated a mediating effect between variables such as negative job demands, social support, personal belief in a just world, and burnout-related variables. These findings may contribute to mitigating the negative effects of burnout among young adults.
