구술사와 이주민의 도시 유산
초록
In this paper, I explore my research journey towards selecting oral history and the urban heritage of migrants as a research focus, utilizing the framework of an “assemblage of research methods.” Drawing from anthropology, the concept of assemblage allows for the examination of the multifaceted and interconnected phenomena associated with globalization, highlighting the dynamic interplay of cultural elements such as customs, ideas, and materials within society. Emphasizing the fluid and spontaneous nature of cultural constructions, this approach underscores the importance of a flexible and self-reflective research methodology that transcends disciplinary boundaries. In this paper, I will discuss the collaborative oral life history research that brings together public history, oral history, and migration studies, Intercultural Cities Program and urban citizenship as alternatives to the nation-state centeredness, critical heritage studies, and urban heritage, and the Ansan Gohyangmaeul as a proof of concept of urban heritage of migrants through oral history. The last part of the discussion will focus on publicly memorializing diverse memories and experiences from below and intercultural placeness.
