초록
The purpose of this study is to conduct a survey to analyze the 13 types of multi-language textbooks published in Japan during the time of Korea's enlightenment in order to shed light on the characteristics of these textbooks as linguistic materials. Here, a multi-language textbook refers to the comparison of textbooks in terms of either the three languages of Korean/Japanese/Chinese or the four languages of Korean / Japanese / Chinese / Russian, in which both the former and the latter have the chronological characteristics of being published mainly during the Sino-Japanese War that occurred in 1894 and during the Russo-Japanese War that occurred in 1904, respectively. The result of the survey indicated that the Japanese used in these textbooks contains transitional language phenomena associated with the Meiji period as the Japanese is built on the specific form of the Japanese language used in Tokyo. In addition, it was possible to observe language phenomena related to regional characteristics according to the different regions where the textbooks were published. Furthermore, the fact that the Korean in these textbooks was recorded in Katakana draws attention because it has referential value for studying the historical phonology of Korean. In particular, I believe the Kana notation seen in these textbooks can provide us with information relevant to the changes in Korean diphthongs. Apart from this, the study showed that the Korean used in these textbooks contains significant language phenomena that can be utilized to study the history of lexicon and the history of articulation of the Korean language.
