Nickel tungstate (NiWO4) is a promising pseudocapacitive material owing to its rich redox activity and structural stability. However, its limited electrical conductivity and moderate surface area restrict its practical applicability. To address these challenges, we report the design and fabrication of NiWO4 anchored on nitrogen doped hollow carbon sphere composite (NHCS) as an advanced cathode material for supercapacitors. The NHCS provides a highly conductive network with a large surface area, facilitating efficient electron transport and rapid ion diffusion. Meanwhile, binary NiWO4 nanoparticles are uniformly anchored onto the NHCS shell to form an NHCS/NiWO4 hybrid material. As a result, the NHCS/NiWO4 hybrid delivers a high specific capacitance of 499 F g-1 at a current density of 0.5 A g-1. The superior performance can be attributed to the synergistic effects of the conductive NHCS structure and the uniform deposition of NiWO4 nanoparticles. This work highlights the potential of the NHCS/NiWO4 hybrid as an efficient electrode material for next-generation energy storage devices.
