A Meta-Analysis of Net Neutrality

초록

This study is the meta-analysis of net neutrality during 2006-2018 in Korea. The main results are as follows; firstly, both law and media related researches are most frequent intellectual areas when we explore net neutrality related issues. In addition, some areas including management and economics are also popular areas in examining net neutrality issues. Secondly, legal and policy issues on net neutrality explains 75% of related researches. Researchers in Korea tend to more focus on legal and policy issues than on innovative aspects. Thirdly, normative approaches to net neutrality are common in discussing various facets for net neutrality. It can be explained that many interests groups and companies are involved in this issues because of economic values of net neutrality issues. Fourthly, there are few theories for explaining net neutrality. Previous researches are based on simple concepts rather than on theories. It is essential to develop theories to explain the effects of net neutrality. Fifthly, document approaches to net neutrality are more frequent than quantitative and qualitative researches. Finally, researchers generally agree on the need for a network neutrality policy. However, researchers think it is time to decide whether to review the current network neutrality detailed principles and coverage.
