초록
The purpose of this study is to examine the origin and history of shamanistic death ritual material culture, focusing on the shamanistic death ritual decoration, in order to identify the belief system inherent in it. Although focusing on material culture, the process before the expression of its meaning was examined in consideration of the acceptance of other religious worldviews and social situations. The place of the death ritual is a non-routine space where the present world and other worlds coexist. The postmortem of the dead can be condensed into these terms- journey and other worlds. The journey is related to the intermediate role of connecting the dead in present world-the other world and when moving through space in the other world. The other world includes the next world related to sin and judgement, hell, and the Western Paradise. The essential purpose of the death ritual in shamanism is to ensure a positive future of reincarnation or paradise through judgement after the safe delivery of the dead to the other world. Accordingly, it was analyzed that the ritual of death was decorated with symbols related to Gods of the other world, the journey to the other world, and the other world. In the process of accepting the Buddhist Death Rite Worldview, shamanism reinterpreted it based on shamanism's unique belief system and established the own Death Rite Worldview. In general, it was analyzed that symbols based on Amitabha's ideas were introduced from the Tang Dynasty to the Silla Dynasty, and that the Ten Kings were introduced to the Goryeo Dynasty in the period of transition from Tang to Song Dynasty. It is assumed that shamanism accepted it during the period when Buddhist rituals were common, and most conceptions of Gods and symbols related to other worlds and journeys were accepted around the 12th century. It was also estimated that the worldview and ritual establishment of shamanistic death rites were related to the increase in death ritual consumption due to two big wars and the spread of plague between the 16th and 19th centuries. The place of death ritual has become a space for both the present world and the other world, and it can be said that the worldview of shamanism has been embodied through the shamanistic decorations representing the other world.
