초록

In order to sense the distance between a leading train and a lagging train driving through a railroad track and prevent a rear-ender, a distance sensing system between trains, which adopts the magnetic induction method, is newly proposed in this paper. The proposed system can be adopted by all railroad systems having a conventional railroad track, and utilized independently together with a track circuit, ATC (Auto Train Control), ATS (Auto Train Stop), and CBTC (Communication Based Train Control), which systems are currently used to detect the positions of trains. To increase the magnetic coupling between Tx (Transmitter) & Rx (Receiver) coils and the railroad track, U-shaped dipole coils for Tx and Rx are used. Such Tx & Rx coils can be installed easily in the train so that the magnetic field generated from the track can be highly linked to the Rx coil. In this paper, the feasibility of the proposed system was verified using a Maxwell 3D simulation tool; results showed that the induced voltage in the Rx coil increases when the distance between trains decreases. As a result, 12.5V and 1.6V load voltages were obtained for d 12 = 10 m and 100 m, respectively, when the size of 6.810 -3 (m 3 ) for the Tx and Rx coils is adopted.
