참조기 소리의 음향학적 특성 분석

초록

Marine organisms use sounds for various purposes, such as communication, prey detection, obstacle and predator avoidance and navigation. These sounds are also utilized in research areas such as population assessment, behavioral analysis, and covert underwater acoustic communication, for which an analysis of their acoustic characteristics is essential. In this study, we analyzed the acoustic characteristics of small yellow croaker (Larimichthys polyactis) sounds which one of the fish that produce sounds. The sounds were recorded using self-recording hydrophone in an aquaculture fish farm of Tongyeong Maritime Test & Evaluation Station in April 2024. The small yellow croaker sounds consisted of repeated pulses each shorter than 10 ms, with highly similar waveforms. To analyze their sounds, we measured the number of pulses, Inter-Pulse Intervals (IPI), variability of IPI and pulse-to-pulse similarity within a signal, . We also analyzed the pulse duration, number of semiperiods, Sound Pressure Level (SPL), peak frequency, and 3 dB bandwidth of a representative pulse from each signal. This study offers foundational data for future applications in marine bioacoustics research.
