초록
As global environmental crises intensify, South Korea exhibits a notable gap between public awareness of environmental issues and actual pro-environmental engagement. Drawing on the Extended Theory of Planned Behavior, this study examines how environmental awareness, perceived severity of indoor air-quality (IAQ) issues, and psychological distance influence pro-environmental attitude and subjective norms, and how these, in turn, shape intentions to improve IAQ. Using structural equation modeling on data from the 2024 National Environmental Awareness Survey, results indicate that all antecedent factors positively affect both attitude and subjective norms, which subsequently predict IAQ-related behavioral intentions. By incorporating these exogenous factors, the study extends the Theory of Planned Behavior to provide a more comprehensive account of the belief–intention relationship in the IAQ context. The findings offer implications for communication strategies that combine psychological-distance framing with concrete behavioral guidance to address indoor air-quality challenges.
