초록
Animation now is thought as a form of art and commercial products. Various characters in Chinese, South Korean and Japanese animations, especially hero characters are influenced by the social and historical backgrounds, arts and cultural forms from those three countries. Also the changing of media changed the style and technique of making animation. The purpose of this study is through the comparison of hero characters after the invention of TV and computer, to provide practical information about appropriate and effective improvements for the design and production of animation characters that can integrate the traditional characteristics better and have a continuous developing trend with media technology. After the invention of television, the animation characters were mainly non‐human and fictional roles to represent the people’s desire for progress and development; after the invention of computer those animations were trying to shape a human character to represent the people’s pursuit of nature and retro hope. If China and South Korea can use properly the traditional characteristics with the support of new technologies and media, the design of their animation characters will achieve a great breakthrough like Japan.
