장애인 선수들의 직업적 삶과 은퇴 후 진로 탐색: 안산 A 발달장애인 농구단 사례분석을 통한 정책적 함의

초록

This study aims to provide policy implications for career support after retirement by profoundly analyzing the vocational life and after-retirement career of athletes with developmental disabilities. In order to achieve the research objectives, a case study method was adopted in terms of methodology, and nine research participants were selected through the purposive sampling method. Quasi-participant observation and in-depth interviews were conducted to collect data, and the collected data used the qualitative content analysis method suggested by Webber (1985). Specifically, ‘vocational life’ was structured into an introductory basketball athlete path-way, relationship and support system with a disabled sports team, and athlete activities and grievances as a professional life. ‘Retirement career’ was subdivided into ‘retirement expectation’ and ‘career transition preparation process’ and structured and analyzed into retirement expectations, post-retirement job preference types and determinants, and post-retirement career transition preparation process. The policy implications for career support after retirement for athletes with developmental disabilities derived from this are as follows. First, school-age opportunities to participate in sports should be expanded so that people with developmental disabilities can systematically advance into the sports field. Second, it is necessary to review the operation of the ‘coaching academy’ at the level of Korea Paralympic Committee. Third, the support project for retired athletes with disabilities should be subdivided by type of disability to promote Substantialization.
