역사 드라마 <뿌리깊은 나무>의 미학적 요소 분석

초록

Korean historical drama has undergone the process of genre-blending in terms of various aesthetic expressions. This study aims to explore the aesthetic elements shown in the recently broadcast Korean historical drama, “Deep-Rooted Tree”(SBS, 2011). In order to examine the new drama aesthetics more systematically, this study closely analyzes the formal elements of 1) formation of narrative (plot), 2) visual style, 3) characterization and performance, 4)writing and dialogue, and 5) innovation. Research findings show that “Deep-rooted Tree” tends to demonstrate the hybrid aesthetics employing both the conventional elements of recent Korean historical drama with the characteristics of the high-end drama drawn primarily from American and British output. Also “Deep-Rooted Tree” drama has shown the new aesthetic sensibility reflecting the creative potential of individual producer and writer. Finally this study discusses the implication of the aesthetics of ‘emotional realism’ and ‘empirical realism’ employed in this drama.
