Neurological disorders are often treated with drugs or surgery. However, drugs show limited efficacy [1], and surgery carries risks like hemorrhage [2], increasing psychological burden. As alternatives, non-invasive neuromodulation techniques such as tDCS and tACS have gained attention (Fig.1). tDCS modulates neural excitability via direct current, but its field rapidly attenuates in tissue, limiting effective stimulation primarily to cortical regions [3]. In contrast, tACS uses low-frequency alternating current to influence neural oscillations, yet suffers from insufficient spatial resolution to target deep brain regions [4]. © 2025 IEEE.
