초록
This study reconstructs a life cycle assessment(LCA) framework to explicitly account for biogenic carbon storage and end-of-life resource recovery in timber buildings under the limitations of existing databases. Previous studies have used Environmental Product Declaration(EPD) data in an aggregated form, where emissions and biogenic carbon storage are not distinguished, resulting in limited interpretability at the stage level. In response, this study separates emissions and carbon storage in the production stage(A1– A3) based on oven-dry mass and incorporates substitution effects from recycling and energy recovery in Module D. A case study of an educational building with a total floor area of approximately 760m shows a difference of about 12% in the production stage. When Module D is included, additional carbon reduction effects are observed. These results indicate that both the structural treatment of carbon flows and the inclusion of end-of-life stages significantly influence LCA outcomes for timber buildings.
