초록
The aftermath of the COVID-19 pandemic has brought attention to serving robots in the restaurant industry. Therefore, this study aimed to evaluate and analyze the usability of serving robots for experts and non-experts in order to improve user satisfaction and reduce cognitive errors. The research proposed an interface design strategy to enhance the usability and utility of serving robots. The study found the following results. Firstly, the design of the icon and its name should be intuitive and easily recognizable for users, and they should be consistent with each other. Secondly, the serving robot screens should have an option to adjust the font size for middle-aged users, giving clear descriptions for functions, menus, and icons to help user understanding. Thirdly, the screen configuration should be easy to understand taking into consideration the number of restaurant tables and bottons such as ‘pause’, ‘cancel’, and ‘undo’ should be added in order to enhance user convenience on operation. Finally, the serving robots should provide clear solutions to errors that users can easily understand. The screen should display descriptions of each menu and provide clear guidance on the process of performing tasks. Based on the results of this study, it was possible to identify the issues that need to be reflected and improved by analyzing the similarities and differences in the usability evaluation of both experts and non-experts in the design of serving robots. The findings of this study will be helpful in proposing an interface design approach to enhance the user satisfaction of serving robots and reduce cognitive errors in the future.
