Prefinished prefabricated volumetric construction is an off-site construction method in which modules, including finishing materials, equipment, and furniture, are prefabricated and assembled on-site using cranes and lifting frames to complete the building. During the process of connecting modules, it is important to lift the modules horizontally to ensure accurate alignment of the joints. Currently, at construction sites, the lifting frame is manually adjusted using a hoisting device equipped with a chain block. This process slows down the crane's operation speed and limits construction time and costs. Previous attempts to automate the lifting frame itself have been limited by the inability to utilize existing lifting frames. Therefore, this study proposes a method for adjusting the horizontal level of modules between an existing lifting frame and a crane hook. This method uses a configuration in which the horizontal adjustment is achieved by driving the lifting frame's hoisting hardware. We built a scaled testbed and conducted experiments by inducing center-of-gravity offsets via multiple hoist rings. As a result, it was verified that the testbed can be expanded to include lifting frames that have traditionally been operated manually. Future research aims to expand the system to a standard that can be used on actual construction sites.
