초록
The development of professional information has not only accelerated the rapid progress of human society but also greatly increased the amount of information accessible to consumers. This, in turn, has led to a growing demand for differentiated and personalized designs, as opposed to uniform and mass-produced ones. As traditional artisans age and their numbers dwindle, there is concern that traditional crafts might disappear. Consequently, with the introduction of traditional craft promotion plans, these crafts have once again garnered attention. Velvet flower jewelry is highly representative among traditional crafts due to its unique materials and production methods. By studying both traditional and modern techniques, and leveraging the special materials and highly malleable forms of traditional velvet flowers, we aim to design modernized velvet flowers that can successfully enter new markets, with promising anticipated outcomes. Our objective is to analyze existing modernized velvet flower brands, absorb their strengths, eliminate their weaknesses, and provide foundational data for designers and entrepreneurs to better integrate velvet flowers into the market. The methods and scope of this study include examining the development process and production methods of Chinese traditional velvet flowers through historical books, literature, and academic papers. We have collected a substantial number of traditional Chinese velvet flower jewelry pieces, categorized and analyzed them by type, thus providing a foundation for the integration of Chinese traditional velvet flowers with modern accessories. Through the study and reflection on Chinese traditional velvet flowers, we explored their expression techniques and traditional forms. It was found that from the Tang Dynasty, when velvet flowers were at their peak, to the Song Dynasty, where a small economic system gradually formed, velvet flowers maintained strict production techniques. They employed various expression methods such as object representation, metaphor, homophonic expression, and festival representation to convey people's hopes for a better life. From the analysis of modern examples of Chinese traditional velvet flowers, we arrived at the following conclusions: Firstly, velvet flower jewelry is designed based on the auspicious meanings of ancient Chinese plants. Secondly, we examined the different brand design styles between Chinese and Western brands: DIOR and Hermès from the West, and M essential and individual designers from China, representing the current development of traditional Chinese velvet flowers. DIOR's velvet flower jewelry mainly focuses on hats with low color saturation, retaining the object representation form of traditional velvet flowers. Hermès’ works primarily include brooches with high color saturation, abandoning the object representation form of traditional velvet flowers, showing a significant style difference. The Chinese designer brand M essential mainly features brooches and hair accessories, preserving traditional meanings while adding metal and gemstone elements that complement Chinese qipao dresses. The independent Chinese designer SUIYIDA's works focus on headpieces and earrings, preserving only traditional techniques while incorporating chains, studs, sequins, and other modern elements. Additionally, high-saturation pop colors are used to further enhance the design sense. It is evident that each brand's works have their unique style, significantly contributing to the study and development of modernized velvet flower designs. Building on this foundation, our aim is to highlight the advantages of velvet flowers, analyze modern design concepts, and integrate composite materials, thereby providing new ideas for the development and inheritance of modern velvet flowers. The goal is to expand design styles and bring them closer to everyday life. Furthermore, we hope that the research and organization in this paper can contribute to the innovation and sustainable development of velvet flowers, playing a positive role in the future design and development of velvet flowers.
