초록

This study aimed to develop and validate a Self-Directed Learning Readiness Test for Young Children, based on the premise that it is necessary to assess young learners’ characteristics required for self-directed learning across early childhood, including self-management, learning motivation, and self-control. Based on the analysis of prior studies, the concept of ‘self-directed learning readiness’ was defined, component factors were derived, and content validity was verified by experts. The study participants were 248 children aged 6 to 7 years attending five daycare centers located in Seoul and Gyeonggi-do. The collected data were analyzed using SPSS WIN 25.0 and AMOS WIN 25.0. Sampling adequacy was assessed using the KMO(Kaiser-Meyer-Olkin) measure, and Bartlett's test of sphericity was performed. Exploratory factor analysis was performed using maximum likelihood and Promax rotation. Confirmatory factor analysis was performed using the maximum likelihood method, and model fit indices including IFI, TLI, CFI, and RMSEA were confirmed. To verify convergent validity, discriminant validity, and cross validity were tested. The final ‘Self-Directed Learning Readiness Test for Young Children’ consisted of 3 components and a total of 29 items, with an overall reliability of Cronbach α .923. The ‘Self-Directed Learning Readiness Test for Young Children’ developed in this study demonstrated satisfactory reliability and validity. The Self-Directed Learning Readiness Scale for young children developed in this study is a reliable and valid measurement tool and can be used to systematically assess the level of readiness for self-directed learning among young children.
