아동을 대상으로 한 교육용 웹 캐릭터에 관한 연구 -국내 영어교육 웹사이트를 중심으로-

초록

The development of Internet has changed many kinds of human`s life style. This effectiveness of Internet has ranged widely to Children and by activating online-education using Internet, many children has learned knowledge through the other way. Many kinds of professional education sites only for children have been developed and the competition between them has become severe. Recently, education sites developed and applied characters for activated learning through making children`s interests aroused continuously. In addition, this learning process using characters has not only aroused children`s interest but also improved academic achievement. This study classified web characters presented in children`s domestic english education sites by design elements and suggested the direction of design`s improvement which is necessary to develop characters necessary for online education from now on. The method of studying is concentrated on documentary survey using Internet such as statistical materials, information database & network search, dissertation and journal. Also, applied cases of characters are analyzed by selecting children`s domestic english education sites in rankey.com(www.rankey.com), web sites` special ranking evaluation site. The main ranges and contents of this study include the concept, necessity & market analysis of online education sites and the concept of web character. According to these subjects, elements of character design classified into 4 elements; intimacy, symbolism, diversity, story and actual applied cases were analyzed. In result, characters should be developed which make children feel a sense of friendliness by bring down to children`s level, have symbolic images suitable for education sites, have various characters with the wide choice ranges and have stories being able to improve concentration and interest. Thus, it is expected that this study can be helpful to recognize the values and the capabilities of characters in children`s education sites as well as to develop characters which can attract children, and through this, it can bring good results in real web sites.
