Research on the Development of Chinese Jianshui Pottery Product Design Using Direct Ink Writing Ceramic 3D Printing Technology

Background Yunnan Jianshui Pottery, one of the four famous porcelains in China, faces the challenges of product homogenization and innovative molding during its development. As a new type of manufacturing technology, 3D printing adopts a completely different material manufacturing method than traditional molding technology, which offers great advantages for molding innovation. This study aims to explore the molding innovation of Jianshui Pottery by utilizing technology convergence through the combination with DIW 3D printing technology. Methods Through prior research, the characteristics of Jianshui Pottery and the availability of DIW technology were analyzed. Clay experiments, printing experiments, and firing experiments were conducted according to the clay characteristics of Jianshui Pottery and the principles of DIW 3D printing technology. And the experimental results were verified once again through the work production process. Result Experimental results show that Jianshui Pottery clay can be used for DIW 3D printing. Printouts of Jianshui Pottery made using DIW technology can be fired at 1150 degrees Celsius. The use of DIW 3D printing technology can provide more creative space for modeling Jianshui Pottery. Conclusion Research has confirmed that Jianshui Pottery clay can be combined with DIW 3D printing technology. The introduction of new technologies could bring more development space for Jianshui Pottery.
