북한 개혁ㆍ개방 시대의 남북 애니메이션 협력 전략
초록
With North Korea’s reform and opening being carefully predicted following the North’s denuclearization, this study discusses a new inter-Korean animation cooperation preparing for new era of inter-Korean cooperation. In order to respond to the new North Korean environment and to promote continuing active participation of firms, a different strategy from the early 2000’s inter-Korean animation cooperation is needed. The discussion is based upon the ‘Generalized Double Diamond model’, according to which, the national competitiveness of a country’s industry decided by the capability of firms engaged in value added activities in the country to sustain the value added over long periods of time, and a particular combination of domestic and non-domestic determinants may lead the international competitiveness. Based on the discussion, this study identifies the relevant elements as source of competitive advantage in the inter-Korean animation cooperation. With North Korea’s opening, low-wage production labors are no longer North Korea’s relevant source of competitive advantage, neither is work-for-hire production order of South Korea. To create international competitiveness, the animation co-production project of South-North Korea should be pushed ahead, combining North Korea’s cultural archetype as the creative material and story writing capability, and South Korea’s project development capability. The projects should be targeted to global market and South Korea’s licensing industry and digital media distribution should support the demand creation. It is also necessary to have foreign partners to ensure the sustainability of inter-Korean animation cooperation.
