Accuracy of the Synchronous Pressure Integration Method: Impact of Pressure-Tap Tributary Areas and Spatial Configuration

초록

This study evaluates the sensitivity of the Synchronous Pressure Integration Method (SPIM) to pressure-tap tributary areas and spatial configurations, Assessing its reliability for structural wind load quantification. Using Benchmark Building B, the SPIM was benchmarked against the Aerodynamic Force Balance (AFB) technique, employing a reference tributary area of 27 m². Systematic parametric analyses were conducted to characterize variations in base overturning and torsional moment responses, and peak top-floor corner accelerations across diverse tap densities and layouts. The results reveal that while overturning moment responses remain highly robust—maintaining deviations within 3%—torsional moment responses exhibit significant sensitivity to spatial discretization. Furthermore, dynamic acceleration responses demonstrate a pronounced dependence on both tributary area and layout; notably, peak top-floor accelerations are overestimated by approximately 17% when tributary areas exceed 100 m². A reduction in vertical resolution induced a 10% amplification in peak acceleration, highlighting that high-fidelity vertical tap resolution is a prerequisite for accurate SPIM-based safety and serviceability assessments.
